it makes a noise when you strike a key and it still happens with a new keyboard

mabe because you had your key bord very long.

If it has a round plug on the back, make sure that it's not plugged into the mouse port. There are two connections on the back of the computer that look the same. One is KEYBOARD the other is MOUSE. Check that out.

If it's wireless, check the batteries.

If it's USB then I'm stumped.

It is highly likely that your keyboard driver is corrupt (like George W Bush). Get to a command prompt and type


SFC /SCANNOW

When it is done, reboot.
