I would personally say Metallica, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, U2 and System of a Down and some of the nu-metal survivor clowns.
Partly because most of them are 40-somethings dressed like teenagers, partly because they try so hard to be cool and just fail miserably...
Please, if you reply, answer the question. If you disagree with me, fair enough, but these bands have put themselves on pedestals and are therefore open to criticism.
Strangely, I actually quite like System of a Down, though I can't decide if its in a so bad they're good way.

Hmm...Well, I actually like most of the bands you listed, with the exception of Metallica. U2 is my favorite band (die hard fan here!) but I guess I could see where they might be annoying to some people. Different strokes for different folks, as they say.
I guess I'm of the mind that you're never too old to rock, so long as you're good at it, and I think those guys are. And I don't think THEY put themselves on pedestals. They have been together for a long time and have developed loyal fan bases. They're able to keep up with the times and, as I said, keep it rocking.
What annoys me is all the bland, snore-a-thon copycat rock out there. I feel like many of these bands are trying to emulate Pearl Jam (first Creed, Nickelback, and now Hinder). They're failing miserably in my opinion. Simply awful!
I saw that somebody else mentioned Fergie. The woman is hot and she has a great voice, so why the f is she rapping?! Bah! I don't understand it!
PS. Saw U2 live 4 times (awesome, but of course I WOULD say that!). Saw System of a Down once too and while they only played for 50 minutes, they were awesome. I like a band with energy and true emotion.

I don't really see them as dressing as teenagers. They may be changing to wear modern fashion like all Americans of all ages do. Actually those bands know how to make music and know the industry better than others. I would have to say that bands like Pussycat Dolls and the former Destiny's Child make me cringe because they really have no talent other than shaking there half-naked butts on stage.

That's slightly funny. The bands you listed are the bands I was going to list before I read your entire question. Though, Metallica doesn't make me cringe as much as the others. I'd add bands like My Chemical Romance and Panic! At The Disco (even their name makes me cringe).
No offense meant to the people who like those bands.....

I like most of those bands but I agree about old people still trying to "rock". It's a sad sight to behold. Boy Bands make me cringe.
