I am interested in making a career as a piolit. I am 19 and just started going to school.
I was curious about a few things.
How is the process of becoming one?
Is it expensive?
What is the best way to get started?
Is it a fun and rewarding career?
What are the pros and cons?

Pros - fun job - respect from you peers etc. Cons - wierd hours, declining trend in salarys do the wage pressure by competition. Would recommend you getting a solid degree in engineering & join the airforce, army or coast guard. You can do it yourself but it will cost you 50 - 100K The US milkitary is the best training in the world & youwill live the life of Ryan as a pilot ..Best - try to get into one of the US military academies - if you have declinig eyesight DONT bother with the US military & do it yourself .. simple enough .. get the degree though. Companies like Boeing also pay their employees pilot training - could get a job there as a janitor & let them send you to college & pilot training ..

the military trains a lot of people for free...
but you have to join the military and they don't make everyone a pilot. but that's how a lot of people got there.
otherwise you can go to the local airport and take flying lessons, solo and get your private pilot's license. a girl i know (who is a commercial pilot now but not for passengers) graduated from embry riddle, which is the premier aviation school and got all her flying done there. any of the 3 ways will work. i recommend embry riddle.
