Can someone please tell me why Tom cruise was captured by the samurais.

The leader of the samurai had a vision in which a white tiger fought against the samurai. During the scene in which Cruise s fighting the samurai he is waving a flag with an image of a white tiger. When he kills the head Samurai's Brother in law he sees it as a sign and decides to capture him and "study his enemy" instead.

because they cant kill the star in the beginning
