The Notebook is a nice movie - -not sure it's the best of all time since I'd have a hard time choosing one but it's a good love story.
Set in a modern day nursing home, an elderly man named Noah, but called "Duke" (James Garner), begins to read a love story from his notebook, to an elderly woman named Allie, who suffers from Alzheimer's. Before, when the illness had not yet intensified, Allie wrote her love story that she shared with Noah in a notebook, gave it to him, and asked that he read it to her, promising that she will remember when he does.
The year then goes back to 1940, at a carnival. Noah (Ryan Gosling), a country boy who is with his friend Fin (Kevin Connolly), first sees Allie (Rachel McAdams), a seventeen-year-old girl from a wealthy family, who is with her friend Sara (Heather Wahlquist). Noah is immediately smitten with Allie, and continuously asks her out on dates, only to be playfully rejected by her, even hanging off the Ferris Wheel showing that he will let go if she didn’t accept. Soon, they wind up with each other while going to a late night show with Fin and Sara. They both spend extra time with each other that night, and quickly fall in love.
Casablanca is another good movie, as is the Way We Were

Romeo and Julliet...
Believe it or not this is the basis for the majority of love stories out there... A classic about boy meets girl, they fall in love, parents object, decide to run off and get married... the only thing missing in the more mordern version is the unfortunate ending, where both boy and girl dies... so realistic, but not very popular with contemporary audiences (every ony loves a happy ending)...

Casablanca:
Expatriate Rick Blaine, a cynical nightclub owner in Casablanca, discovers that his ex-lover Ilsa, who abandoned him years before, has arrived in Casablanca with her Resistance leader husband, Victor. With the Germans on Victor's trail, Ilsa has come to the club to beg Rick for the precious letters of transit that have come into his possession. The documents would allow Victor to escape Casablanca and continue the fight against Fascism.

'The Way We Were' starring Robert Redford and Barbara Streisand. This is because, unlike other stupid ppl in love, they were smart enough to know that they were completely incompatable. Contrary to popular belief, love doesn't conquer all, and they had to let eachother go. But they never stopped loving each other. You can see it in their eyes at the end.

The Notebook, I agree with the popular vote when it comes to books. I've never read it, but my mom has. She and my aunt say Dear John is good, too.

An older movie came out in 2000. Co-star Jane Seymore & Christopher Reeves. Titled: "Somewhere in Time." Reeves writes playrights & teaches at a university & the students are practicing for one of his play's & in the audience is an elderly distinguished woman standing there watching him...she walks up to him & hands him an old watch (time piece) & tells him "come back to me." He does not recognize her..years go by & he still writing plays..he goes into this room & there he see's a picture of the old woman who gave him the watch..he also see's a picture of her when she was young..(Jane Seymore) & he is mesmerized by her beauty..Love at first sight...He talks to one of the professors at the university & asked him if it's possible to "go back in time." blah blah blah....You have to see the movie if you want to know more....it is on DVD .....It is one of my favorites....of all time.....Great Love Story...A good tear jerker.....
