Bush, Cheney and company barely attempt to mask the fact that the despise the very concept of a strong federal government. So, is it not their plan to run up such huge deficits (with tax cuts for the rich plus huge spending) that the government will simply go broke?

He is using what is known as the Starve the Beast strategy - The idea is to run up as much debt as possible - so that there will be no choice but to destroy or nearly destroy programs like Social Security. - President Bush has openly stated that his priority is to make his tax cuts for the rich permanent - and that he plans to continue to run up big deficits and to borrow all the surplus being paid into the Social Security Trust fund, with no plan in place to pay it back.

Bush and Cheney and company also don't care much about the amount of debt being passed on to future generations. After the 2004 election, Cheney said "Reagan proved that deficits don't matter." - When he said this, he was not expressing an opinion about what was good for the country (Something that apparently was of little importance to him)- He was stating that there is no political cost to running big deficits (The voters won't kick you out of office for running a deficit)- so why not have more tax cuts to reward their Republican base.

The Democrats deserve a share of the blame for this mess - because they have failed to speak up loudly and clearly in opposition to Bush's deficits- probably because they got something out of the tax cuts for their natural constituency - The Democrats now control the congress but they have yet to introduce a bill to role back the Bush tax cuts. - Both parties have been buying our votes with borrowed money for far too long and the country will suffer for it.

I am actually watching something right now about it. It's on CBS right now there talking to a guy in charge of the government spending and he basically watches everything. He's talking about how we need to reform health care and social security. Something alot of us fear but it's a reality we have to face. It was on sixty minutes but now it just went off I think. But we definitely have to do something about it. Our country needs to go on a spending diet no matter how much it sucks. But others would like to keep eating while diabetes and heart attacks come. And if we continue to eat then we shall meet death. I would like to say we need to cut down war costs but am not exactly sure how to go about that. Having better foreign relations would definitely help.
It is not just an administration issue it is all of our faults. Stop making it into a political war and more just a common since issue. No matter if youre liberal or conservative. SPENDING ALOT OF MONEY YOU DO NOT HAVE ISNT A GOOD IDEA.

relatively unlikely, yet in simple terms for the sake of argument. in case you fairly have faith that then what does it say approximately Obama who's poised to spend a million/4 of what Bush spent in 8 years in his first a hundred days in place of work? i replaced into no longer happy with the quantity of money spent with the help of government interior the final 8 years and replaced into in many situations a verbal critic even nevertheless i'm a conservative. i hit upon it a chuckle nevertheless that Democrats who whined for years approximately spending and that's undesirable consequences are prepared to furnish Obama a sparkling verify. Hypocrisy at that's maximum appropriate. So how do i think approximately that? i think of deficit spending with the help of government is undesirable in spite of who holds the potential.

Well, if you think that the total budget for the country has been overrun in the past few years to the point that we as a nation are going to be 'broke' at the end of Bush's term, you're wrong. We have unpaid loans from governments that exceed that! our budget is in the Trillions of dollars, not Billions! Give us some numbers, facts and their sources for evaluation - instead of giving us your suppositions. If you're right....you're right, and if you're wrong, then you spoke out of context without doing your research to emphasize your political feelings. I'm not here for your guesses and feelings. This is a forum for answering questions, not getting on your 'bully pulpit'.

There ARE people that want only the wealthy to run the country instead of a strong localized government. And that does make sense. But the agenda of any person in power is questionable.

You do realize that Democrats complain the prescription drug plan was not BIG enough?
You do realize that Democrats want to give BIGGER Social Security checks?
You do realize that Democrats Want to EXPAND the size of Medicare?

Tell me. Does hating rich people make you feel better about yourself? Does it somehow give you the desire to achieve more in life? I'm just wondering how that is a productive thing to do in life.

And selling our debt to foreign entities. I can't imagine it's not intentional. Sometimes I think that Cheney and Rove are just saying "Hey, let's get them to really hate the Democrats and just see how much we can get away with!" It's working-the Cons hate the Dems so much that we could say the sun is shining and they would insist it's raining! When we say the economy is ugly, they insist it's wonderful.

Do you think that is only Bush? What about the rest of the government. Do you think that they are different. If you think that the war in Iraq is the only thing wrong and costly to the Americans, well what about the illegal aliens in our country that the Democrats with Ted Kennedy in charge is going to give them all, Amnesty. Do you think that's not part of your equation on bankrupting.

Yes he is. Do you not remember that part of his campaign platform? He plans to take over Iraq and be it's dictator when he retires from office but few have figured that out. Why else would we be over there, getting things ready. He plans to have Americans come over as settlers and live in his kingdom while

YES I just saw something about that on 60 minutes. They said the defect looks REALLY BAD! They said the government went from surpluses when Clinton was in office to tremendous deficit ever since Dumbya Bush has been in office.
