Although there are some private airports in Sandusky and closeby, for most people, Cleveland would be the closest airport, followed by Toledo, then Detroit/Windsor. But having driven from the Detroit side AND the Cleveland side, Cleveland is the much preferred route if you can fly into/out of there.
Not only is is shorter, but there's less portions that are just two lanes where if you get stuck behind a pokey car, that you'd be pulling your hair out.

Sandusky Ohio - Griffing Field - SKY is identifier - Runway is 3559 feet long - perfect for small aircraft.
Port Clinton - Carl R Keller Field - PCW - 5004 feet runway, light jet accessable. 8 miles from Sandusky
Those are your two best bets!
