Yes, my sister didn't get a positive test until around 20 weeks and even then it was so faint you had to hold it up to the light. The blood test showed clearly positive. But she just didn't have enough hcg to be detected in her urine. That's why it is suggested to get a blood test. The blood test detects hcg in your blood so is much more accurate and there is very little room for error. There have been a few cases where there have been false negatives, but those are highly rare, as are false positives.

With my first daughter I was 4 months pregnant before my doctor would do a blood test to find out for sure. They tried to do 4 different urine tests on me and it never showed positive. I did 3 home tests as well that never showed positive.

they will work for everyone, but sometimes the pregnancy hormone hasn't built up enough in the urine at the time that people try to test. Most tests say you have to wait at least until your period is due, one says you can use it "up to" 5 days in advance. But it depends on how long it takes for your body to build up a readable level of the HCG hormone....You might know before the test can tell you....

This could be true, I don't use them. Nothing is final until a healthcare provider gives you a pregnancy test.
