I can't remember where I read this, but it made mention to siblings who argue, and fight all the time are in a HAPPY household. Sounds crazy, but it made sense. Children who are closer, and rarely fight are in a household of chaos---parents on the verge of divorce, physical, mental and drug abuse etc... They tend to be closer because of their environment.
I did find a site that may help your situation...good luck.

all kids act differently. make sure the 9 year old isn't near the arguments so they dont pick up anything they shouldn't hear.
your older kids are at the age that they pretty much hate each other. theres almost nothing u can do to stop that. i should know, im around their age. lol :D
you cant stop kids from arguing! they'll argue all they want. u can try to help the agument turn into a converstion by trying to help them. try not to butt into their argument. try squeezing into it by asking if they want a snack. they will probably ingore u and have a silent moment. during that silent moment, ask them what they are fighting about. they will both probably tell you comepletly different stories. assume that they are both right in a different sense.
keep letting them talk to you and not each other. if they start to yell at the other sibling, say something really fast like, oh, i just remembered something. they might be interested in what u just said, so make something up. it will probably make them forget the problem.
hope this helped! :D

It's only going to get worse. Best thing to do is to keep the 12 year old busy! Same with the 9 year old. The 14 y/o girl has already entered teenage mode, so to try to get her into sports will be very hard.
Have the 12 y/o boy get into sport, heavily! Every sport, basically, keep him out of the house as long as possible! And have the young daughter follow in his footsteps, which will make them both strong.
Have the 14 y/o focus mainly on study and reward her heavily for it. Engage her intellectually.

I have the same frustration. My kids argue as well with me as the referee. It drives me nuts, but I have come to realize that siblings arguing is naturally inevitable.

When ever they argue make them hug until u say stop. Like 5 or 10 min. Trust me they don't like like to hug when they're upset. It works for me.
