The ice chunks along the shoreline are a beautiful blue color.

They appear blue for a very simple reason... water is blue, so ice is also blue! It has to do with the way light is scattered when it hits the water molecules. I live in in Superior, WI... until the recent snow storm the ice at the shores of the lake was totally exposed, and it looked amazing.

There is a little blue demon that puts blue dye into the ice on the cold, almost frozen nights. I saw him once.
