My GPA is about 3.6, I play a sport (varsity golf), I'm involved with music/theatre, I have a job. However, I don't do a lot of community service and my family is not rich. What northeast collges would you suggest? Can I make it into Wesleyan (CT)?

I assume that your GPA is 3.6 out of a 4.0 scale. That is quite good, and should get you into any upper tier school. I know that some of the Ivy League schools want that politically-correct community service BS, but most schools don't care. You do qualify for student loans, and be sure to scour the Internet for any available scholarships (apply to as many as you can, no matter how insignificant).

Schools in your state will probably be cheapest, so if you want to get into Weslayan, you have a leg up if you are a Connecticut resident. I wish I had made that choice back in the 70s. I moved to Texas in 77, and graduated high school in 78, but chose a school in Bridgeport (CT) because I wanted to be near my then (soon to be former) girlfriend. Big mistake. I should have gone to Texas A&M or even Cougar High (University of Houston) at the time, not wait until later and take courses in dribs and drabs when I could afford it. You live, you learn.

Oh, to the poster above, GIG 'EM!

Congratulations! I went to the college of California, Davis (type of 2003). substantial thoughts have been beginning my eyes to connections between the different disciplines i replaced into examining. As you progression by way of your well-known practise standards (i.e., decrease branch classes exterior your substantial part of learn), you will in all possibility observe some commonalities, comparable veins of theory, and one consistent that i will under no circumstances forget approximately: each and every little thing you learn includes a learn of history, be it many times or the particular history of the situation handy. The extra you may rejoice with how your substantial fits into the bigger photograph of human history, the extra friendly and enriching your college adventure would be. Have a great time, and better of success to you!

Yes, you can get into Weslayan with your credentials. And by the way, you dont have to have money or do lots of community service to get into college. I didnt have either of those and I got into NYU, USC, Spelman, & Texas A&M
