It has to reach kindling temperature.Use dry,well-seasoned hardwood.Split a straight-grained piece into smaller pieces.Put paper underneath a teepee -shaped pile of the small pieces.Put larger pieces around the tee-pee ,laid up against the center .Light the paper. The kindling should ignite the larger pieces. When you have a good fire going ,add wood to maintain it as you see fit.Do not use accelerants on an indoor fire.If the hardwood is dry,it will eventually burn down to a fine ash with a few coals buried in the ash.

You could use gasoline... that would start a heck of a fire... probly blow you out the front door too...

Get some twigs to lay on the paper. Start with paper and build it up. The twigs are a bit bigger than the paper. Then find some bigger twigs... lay them on there carefully... find slightly bigger ones yet, lay them on there... build slow and steady and keep it in control... the logs are the last thing to go on it. Be careful and enjoy your fireplace.

Does the wood feel "Dry" or wet? Use ethanol (like the same chemical used for car fuel)
