Longer than any other nation. Every generation has tried to use this argument to explain why the other side of whatever their argument is bad, and responsible for bringing the country to the brink of destruction.
A little knowledge of historical political battles goes a long way.
We have free speech, so no biased and subversive group can get far, however much some of them lie about the "dangers of our government". Too many people are better informed or involved in our government and know better.
We have free expression of religion, so one of the trigger points for revolution is taken off the list right from the beginning.
We change our elected leaders too quickly for anyone to get much power to begin with.
We have equality (which means equal opportunity (in general, not in minutia and not by micromanaging every individual's life) which means that although some don't have the same opportunities (they aren't owed most of them), they have enough that any revolution based on being poor is looked on by most of the country as silly, since we have the richest poor in the world. I've served with St. Vincent's and donated time to the poor. When they have a car, a TV, a stereo better than mine, and get free money, free food, cheap or free lodging, it seems unlikely that anything will ever come of the Socialist attempts to totally socialize our country.
We'll last a long time, because we aren't afraid to look at these issues. We don't have to silence you, or me. What you can look clearly at, you can overcome or control.
At this rate? Forever.
