I recently bought a cool mist humidifier. It smells slightly musty and am wondering how to clean it. The back of the box says to use vinegar weekly. Do I fill the entire 2 gallon humidifier and let it run, stinking up my entire house? Do I wipe down the insides? Any other ideas?

Wipe down the insides and when you refill it, add about a tablespoon of liquid bleach to the water. This helps kill molds and bacteria that can form in the tank(s).

I think it's like cleaning out a coffee pot. Use white vinegar and fill it up. I would wipe down the insides also those things are great mold collectors so clean it well.

My mom always used white vinegar and water. you do half water half vinegar and just fill it up and run it. The vinegar cleans it out really good. Good luck. Also white vinegar does not smell as bad with water.
