Id be giving up Rafeal Furcal, and be getting Mariano Rivera. I have a shortstop already in Jimmy Rollins, but i only hav Joe borowski as a closer. The guy has 4 closers but his short stops are Rich Aurilia and Bobby Crosby. I think this trade helps both of us right? Am i doing the right thing?

It's a fair trade, but I doubt the other player will accept it. Furcal is somewhat unde , and Rivera, being a closer, will be ove . Not to say he isn't good, but the other player might not see it that way. On the other hand, he is desperate at shortstop, but probably will want more. Rollins for Rivera and another player would be better. Rollins would be more appealing to the other owner. The other player should be around a mid round-pick.

Yeah Jimmy Rollins might be the better fantasy player. He hits for average, power in that small ball park, he steals and is motivated because he guarenteed that the Phillies would win the east. Although Rivera is pitching in his walk year, next year he will be a free agent, he is getting older and he will still get 35 saves but the Yankees might try to limit him and if they have a nice lead in september they will rest him for the playoffs. So really he is getting the better deal and crosby always gets injured and Aurilla isnt that good. If you need a closer Saito of the dodgers is good and Henry Owens of the Marlins might be the closer and he is really good, gets a ton of K's.

He won't get a better offer and sitting on 4 closers with those SS is just stupid. Giving up Mariano doesn't hurt him and improves his team pretty significantly.
This trade is fair and helps both teams. Although you may find that finding closer help later will be easier than finding a decent SS.

Personally, I might be inclined to make him suffer through drafting too many closers... but you need the help.

I'd say u r askin for too much in return for Furcal, if he has 4 closers then ask him for like his 2nd or 3rd best closer and not rivera, cause most people wouldn't give rivera up for furcal

I agree with PTI. If you want Rivera, than you need to give him Rollins. If he has someone like Huston Street or Billy Wagner, then that would be fair for Furcal.

Furcal is not that good. He's not worth what Mariano is worth.
