i use to be a real push over, but now i have to be careful, even around my own friends. im afaid of being nice, because when im nice naturally, people try to take atvantage of me. i dont talk a lot, so people think im a pushover, but when i do talk, people dont listen to me. what should i do?

If you don’t feel confident in yourself other people will sense this even if you speak clearly and loudly your body language will give you away. Remember to stand tall, maintain eye contact and make you presence felt.

Here are two websites which contain more detailed information regarding body language. It is possible to make changes to become the person you want to be but please be patient and don’t expect results over night. Also work on your self esteem as this will give you more confidance to interact with other people and will make you less scared of rejection or people not agreeing with you.

I have the same problem. Just be yourself. There's nothing wrong with being nice. Just do what you feel is best for yourself, it doesn't matter what other people think. Sometimes when I would talk they wouldn't hear me because I talked too quietly. Just ask them if they heard what you said. Most people really just like to hear themselves talk half of the time.
