I've had several friends who despise the word, and have also seen it referenced on TV shows such as "Dead Like Me" and "American Dad". What's so bad about it? Is there a word out there that isn't derogatory or crude, but you hate it anyway? I'd like to know :)

When i hear it, i think wet, moldy, dank..gross words. I wonder why my brain goes that way, cause it could mean dewy, hydrated, glistenig - not such bad words.

i don't hate it...i love literature though and have read sooo much. moist can just be referred to the chocolate chip cookies. it can be a good thing. maybe out of context or people associate the word with what happens behind closed doors...in the bedroom.
