Hi! Well dogs and cats are obviously the best choices, for different reasons. Different pets are good for different people:

DOGS
Good for - companionship, loyalty, rough play!
Bad for - people at work all day, people who don't want to take it for a walk every day .. I know I couldn't be bothered, that's why I have a cat! ;-)

CATS
Good for - people at work all day or don't have much time
Bad for - people who are into minimalist furniture... they do impair the decor slightly with their scratching, toys, beds, bowls etc!

BIRDS
Good for - fun pet, not too high maintenance
Bad for - cuddling!

HAMSTERS / OTHER RODENTS
Good for - those who want a cute short-term pet who doesn't take much looking after!
Bad for - people who want to sit on the sofa with their pet. You can't really do this with hammie. It's also easy to forget about them if you have cats and dogs, as they have to be kept separate.

RABBITS / GUINEA PIGS
Good - These can be really good pets! Cuddly, cute, furry.
Bad - If you don't have a garden, it's not the best plan!

It depends on the amount of space you have and how much time you are planning on spending with your pet, if you have quite a lot of space I would say a dog definitly Golden Retrivers and Labradors are best. But if you have a small amount of space personally I would have a rodent of some type, a few pets I would'nt reccomend are Gerbils, Hamsters and Mice, As they are all know for bitting and hamsters are nocternal, Ferrets, Rats, Guinea Pigs, and Rabbits all make good pets too.
Cats are also great for people who don't have much spare time on thier hands as they are quite indipendant animals.
I have 1 dog (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) 2 cats (1 of which we rescued and the other her baby) and I'm about to get some rats as I've heard they are very inteligent and sociable.

well on the whole i think its either cats or dogs. classic answer i know. Cats are great if you want an easy to keep pet as they dont need walking plus they look after themselves very well. dogs are more time consuming. they are perfect companions but you have the hassle of walking them regular. It depends really on your needs and what you can give. If you are busy at work all day an aquarium of tropical fish area a great way to relax and are easy to maintain.

I have to say rabbits as I have had 2 of them so far and they are great. They follow you around the house like a dog would but you don't have to take it out for walks like with a dog. If they poo it's not too manky to clear it up. They bond with their owner and can even show jealousy. however this is not to say that dogs aren't great too, never had one but want one in the future and a cat and a goat and a donkey I love animals

i think it depends on the person and if you are able to take care . i Would say that cats are the best cat if u like independent animals. Dogs are good companions but there a little high magnates. If for younger children a Guinea pig. I personally like dogs too but cats are fun.

I would have to say Newfoundland dogs if you want to go large. They are very loving pets. Cavalier King Charles Spaniels if you would like a smaller pet. Overall dogs. If you are young I would go with a rabbit. If you go on dogbreedinfo.com they have a quiz to see which type of dog best suits you. I hope that helps.

Seen as you alraedy have dogs and cats, I guess you're asking about small animals. Rats are good, if you don't dislike them like most of the population, but next to that gerbils.

Cats and dogs. Cats because they relax you and make you contented when you stroke them and dogs because they need exercise so you have to walk them so if you need to lose weight they are quite handy and they let you know when someone is around!!!!!!!
