somewhere in between i guess. i mean it's obvious that she made some real prophecies, cause that's somehow in her genes... as she is cassandra trelawney's great great daughter. but maybe those genes only come out in her in times of real danger seen as she never made another prophecy but those about voldemort. but what if she has more abilities than that?
i mean she kept seeing the Grim around HArry aka a big black dog, but what if she was actually seeing Sirius the dog... or she kept predicting evil around the time dumbledore when he died. remains to be seen

I think trelawny has no real talent, but somehow has the ability to make some "real predictions" as dumbledore said "thats her second real prediction yet, I should give her a raise" (or something on the lines of that) She just has this mysterious ability to give the omens without her knowing she did herself. Dumbledore mentions this stuff.

Well personally, I think she's for the loony bin. BUT, clearly she does sometimes have accurate premonitions. Perhaps she has had occasional premonitions and those have LED her to believe she's a full-on psychic... But I think she's just susceptible to certain premonitions on occasion.

It's a double-bluff, I suspect she's actually very talented.
Although, on this subject, I did not like Emma Thompson's portrayal of her in the movies.

I think she has some amount of talent which is obvious only when she's drunk.As I'm sure you'll recall,she made the prophecy when she was drunk

She showed that she has potential, like with the actual predictions she made, but I feel she lacks control of her ability. If she can harness it, she could be as good as Cassandra.

its said that Dumbledore hired her because she had a real premenition. most of the time she is just a crackpot but does occasionaly have real prophecies.
