also do you think that the severity for those type of fouls should warrant a bigger suspension???

I believe that the the officials got the call right. For one, the ball was clearly not any where around and was probably back bouncing on the ground when Henderson went up. Not to mention, since when do you go to block/rebound with your elbows?

I'm not sure if he will get suspended more or not. I do think that it is something that needs to be looked at. I think this foul is a little harder to detect the intentionalness of it because Henderson didn't come out and 'punch' Hansbrough in the face, but rather used his elbow and the whole excuse of going for the block/rebound to cover it.

Before the incident in question, with under a minute left after a Duke made free throw, Duke trapped off the UNC inbound which was received by Hansborogh. There was a lot of reaching and grabbing, but it was a good trap and UNC bench called a Time Out to avoid the 5 second call. As the Time Out was being called Hansborogh kinda threw an elbow or just a rough cheap shot to a Duke player... none other than Gerald Henderson, Coach K was irate on the sideline and wanted a technical called.

When they came back from the commericial break Coach K was still talking to the refs. I think Henderson's shot on Tyler Hansbrough was pure retaliation. I think it was his intention to commit a rough foul in retaliation for the elbow to Henderson just before this turned out to be one of the most vicious hits in the history of college basketball. So yes, it does warrant a bigger suspension.

Did he mean to break his nose? No. But I believe he went in with the intent of making a hard foul and it was a cheap shot, especially at that point in the game.

If you look closely, Gerald Henderson aims to hit Hansbrough, then not only closes his eyes but he turns his head to protect himself while he throws the elbow during the collision. That's another indication that he meant to hit Tyler pretty hard but I dont think he cared where the shot landed.

TV only showed one angle of the incident. While Billy Packer kept saying that Henderson didn't mean it, it was just bad luck that Hansbrough's face got in the way, he expressed no concern for Hansborough's injury. It was shameless and Billy Packer should be ejected from college basketball broadcasting.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! On every replay of every angle, he had his eyes closed and his entire body was turned the other direction! It was completely unintentional. I'm a huge Duke fan, and, I could've lived with a foul, I mean, there was no way that Duke was coming back from a 12pt deficit in 30 seconds; but to EJECT Henderson, that's insult to injury.

HAD it been an intentional foul, I still wouldn't have warranted a 1 game suspension, especially in a Rivalry game where the next game is the tournament. Any rivalry game gets heated, and it gets even hotter when it's nationally televised and one of the Top Rivalries in the Nation. Kids will be kids. But I don't think the ejection OR the suspension was called for.

NO! He was just playing hard, going for the block and the guy's nose got in the way! When you're jumping and twisting like that, it's impossible to control yourself so well that you can intentionally hit another person's nose even if you wanted to. He shouldn't have been ejected, and he sure as hell does NOT deserve a suspension. Those refs are pathetic.

yes he should of been ejected. the severity of that type of foul is left up to the referee. was it called a foul or a flagrant foul? flagrant fouls he can be suspended for his next game or more by the NCAA. in this case either ACC tournament game or NCAA tournament game.

I think the refs got the call right. Henderson can in with his elbow to the head.I think the one game suspension is enough.
