I was reading a book where the mom favors her son and was curious if people really think that way.

I favor my son, because he was my first born.
I favor my daughter because she is my youngest. I believe that each child is favored in their own way.

I think people secretly (and even overtly) favor one of their children. I tell each of my 3 they are all my favorite, but they have different personalities & not all are easy for me to get along with. I know many mom's who favor one child over another. I feel my Dad favored me, and my Mom favored my brother. It's nothing they would have admitted, but it was pretty obvious to everyone.

what kind of parents favor their children. I feel sorry for your kids. I love all my kids the same but for who they are, so what if one is better in school or sports,maybe the other one makes you laugh more or wants more hugs,then maybe you have one that just doesn't seem to care about anything and you find that uniquely irresistible. Would you give one away, would you be hurt just the same if one of them got hurt.A parent that claims to love one child more needs to wake up and spend more time getting to know the other one. Get family counseling something for your kids sake you need to learn to love and respect each of them for their own special self.Please think about this. To the children who feel the favoritism not all parents do this the ones that care don't when you have children make them equal.

yes because one tends to do better in school and sports know to be the "perfect child"
and some are favored in grand children great grand children neices and so on so forth.
it is the same way with animals.
it is just mother nature.

Yes.
Different kids have different personalities.
Even though parents may not know it, I'm pretty sure they favor one to another.
Even though I don't have kids, I sometimes favor my dad over my mom :)

No I love all my kids the same! I try my best to always treat them the same, but they have totally different personalities so it can be difficult

I do find myself "babying" my son, however, I try to divide my attention between my two children.

yes i do, only because my youngest son has been the one that is always around me. and I'm closer to him.
