It all depends on the stile of game your coach prefers. You cant play like Nash if your coach wants a slow game now can you? My advice is figure out what you coach wants first. Does your coach like a fast paced game, if so push the ball, look for your outlets and get that ball moving. Does your coach like a slow down offense? If so slow it down set up and take your time. Be careful with the ball, a good point guard does score, but he gets his players scoring more. You are the general on the court, you call the plays you start the plays. You have the ball in hand the most. Keep the turnovers low, play the game how your coach wants, and get your team involved. To many players try to emulate Kobe or Iverson. Remember, you have a lot to learn before you can join And1. Keep to the basics for now. No coach appreciates a show off, they usually lose the ball more if they pass behind the back then a nice bounce pass. Help your team, and they will help you.

I had the same sort of problem when i got moved from shooting guard to the point. One thing i didnt do was pass a lot. Look to drive the ball hard and wait for the defence to collapse on you than make a pass to the open man. Work on your lay ups both left and right handed i strugled finding baskets because i couldnt make shots i should.ve made. Also work on your perimeter shooting your going to need it sometimes. Protect the ball with your body and look to break some ankles out there with the crossover dribbles.

first practice practice practice. Most coaches like point guards that can shoot, but id rather have a point guard that can drive then dish out. When u have three point shooters thats the way to win. Drive dish out. Also run all the plays always listen to ur coach thats the most important thing about being a point guard. Again just run the offense.

I dont have any site in mind but would just like to give you some tips. The most important thing to know is to have good vision not just being able to see the court but anticipate your teammates. If you can do this properly your teammates will always get your passes and if they dont it will probably go outbounds instead of the defense getting an easy steal and a fastbreak.

how old are you? because the best thing for you to do is to go to camp, but alot of camps only select youths from like 7-18, and also work on the hand your (not) dominate with, because no coach wants a 1 sided guard bringin the ball up the floor and running his/her offense, good vision, know who has the hot hand, be able to break down a zone, be able to lead under pressure, basically the Quarter Back of Bball

good thing you've decided to be a better point guard at a young age. I'm no point guard but all i can say is: try to play as much pick-up games as you can; try to watch as much game as you can especially of your favorite point guard; also, try to read different players' story, their contributions to the game etc.; of course, your own practice time; and last but not the least, don't forget your grades because there will still be life after basketball.

Well, besides the obvious (good ball handling, good passing) it helps to know your team. Know the plays, and know your teammates. Know their favorites spots to get the ball to score. Know their weaknesses too, who can finish on the break, who can hit the J, etc. Know who needs more encouragement to be an aggressive player. Know who needs to be calmed down during a game.

The point guard is the general on the floor, so know how to make your team better by knowing your team.

watch tjuan porter from oregon ducks in the tourney you and he are about the same size he is a master point guard and really has the court sense and the ability to handle the ball as well as shoot for a hight percentage from anywhere on the floor and he plays defense with his feet which is how it should be.

sign up for the basketball camp at NC State.
Sidney Lowe and Monty Towe are two of the top short point guards to ever play the game and they are together at their Alma Mater. They both lead their teams to NCAA championships..
