I have been living in Arizona for 6 months and held a seasonal position at Toys R Us. I got my W-2 back and recently filed my federal and state taxes for the time I worked in Arizona. I also have a W-2 back in Chicago from when I worked at Wal-Mart before I moved to Arizona. When I file my W-2 from Wal-Mart, do I just file a state return?

Your federal return has to show all of your income for the year, no matter where you lived at the time. If you already filed federal with just the AZ W-2, then you have to file an amended return to include both W-2s.

For the individual states, you'd file in each state as a part-year resident, with just the income while you lived in that state.

File a Form 1040x to pick up the IL W-2 (both W-2's need to be included on the federal return). The State returns should reflect the amount earned in their respective state.

You have to file both of them on your fedral and then you have to file a state return for each state.
