I bought this plant from a farmer's market and obviously misheard the man when he told me what it was. I have no idea what type of plant this is. Here are some pictures:

The first photo is way to dark. The second photo is Pilea cadierei - Aluminum Plant.

The following info is from the website:
Culture: Pilea cadierei does not tolerate direct sun without burning of the leaves. It does best in about 45% shade. It may tend to grow leggy when it is not receiving enough light. Temperature of 60 degrees is best in winter, but can tolerate temperatures of 70 degrees or higher in summer as long as sufficient humidity is provided. Aluminum plants need a sandy well-drained soil (1 part peat moss to 1 part loam to 2 parts sand). During the growing season the plant should be kept evenly moist, water less in winter, but do not allow the soil to dry completely. Fertilize the plant weekly in the growing season with a balanced fertilizer diluted to ½ the strength recommended on the label.

Propagation: Pilea cadierei are propagated by cuttings or division. Cutting should be taken in spring.

I have seen these before, as house plants - they're usually a LOT smaller. I don't know the name, though!!! If I think of it, I'll come back and edit - sorry I couldn't be more help. I do know it's not a ficus/rubber plant (although that's what I thought too when I saw the first picture).

It looks like an aluminium plant to me. In the pilea family.

What did you think he said? The leaves, if they were smaller, would be aluminum plant. But it is way bigger than any I have ever seen. Maybe a cleodendrum?
