We have a 12 ' alligator in our pool and we are thinking about keeping it for a pet.It just appeared one day. What's the best way to train it and house break it? How can we train it to let us know when it has to go out side? It minds pretty good except when I command it to ' not bite'. I did'nt need stitches but it can get costly. It is an excellent security system. No one ever comes in our yard, that we know of. But how do we train it not to poo on the carpet?. Any advise would be gratful.

Depends if you have too many chickens or not as to wheather it is a good pet to have. As for the pooping in the house, I'd recommend putting up a child gate to keep him outside, yet you can still toss him a chicken once in a while from the comforts of your home.

The only problem I see is that when you want to swim, you're going to have to put him in a kennel so he won't want to play ball with you...

"I particularly have my coronary heart set on getting a puppy alligator" maybe you're thinking with a coronary heart slightly too a lot here, use your suggestions. Allligators are actually not pets. Wild animals are actually not pets. it particularly is mosly probable unlawful. Ever see an alligator on the zoo? they supply their animals the bare miniume of care to maintain them happy and healthful. there is not any way a single individual has that a lot room and time. to not point out funds.

Just take him outside 20 minutes after you feed him. Being cold-blooded, he may need to stay out for an hour or so.
The occasional intruder that you don't know about may cause him to go poo off schedule, but usually you know when he eats. So mostly, he'll go outside if you do this.

you are crazy. it can kill you or someone else. if people know you are keeping it as a pet and it hurts or kills someone who comes into your yard, you WILL be held responsible and you WILL go to jail. not to mention the guilt for the rest of your life. what if it kills one of your kids, or someone else's kid. just crazy. call animal control.
