Well i hate to break it to you but without working full time you wont be able to do it legally.

As a high schooler you're going to get a minimum wage job or somewhere around there. But i'll be generous:

if you get a job making 10.00 an hour, and work 20 hours a week (a normal part time job), you're only going to make 10,400 a year or so, before taxes.

But the odds are you'll more like get paid 5.15 an hour, which is minimum wage. at that rate you'll make 16,068 in 3 years working part time, and thats before taxes.

And to follow up, even working full time you wont find a job that will pay you enough to make that much. You have NO experience and NO education. Why would anyone pay you to do anything more than clean things or flip burgers?

Not to be a pessimist but its going to be very tough for a teenager to do. Even making $20 an hour you'll have to work full time for 2 years...

Edit: and just so you know what i'm basing all this on:

part time: 20 hours per week of work x 52 weeks in a year = 1,040 hours of work per year x $10.00 = $10,400

full time: 40 hours per week x 52 weeks a year = 2,080 hours per year x $10.00 per hour = $20,800

If its for college: do well in high school and get a scholarship. maintain at least a 3.5 or so and you wont have to worry about how to pay.

Get a part time job, if you put all your money in there you would have enough 3 years from now. You could baby sit when your not working to make extra money. If you work really hard you will make it.
