Most likely she has a urinary tract infection or if it's gone for along time, kidney infection.
The best treatment would be with antibiotics. Cranberry juice and pills are great, but once she's to the point where she has burning pain and frequent urination, it's too late for cranberries to be the only treatment. Otherwise it could lead to a kidney infection and possible kidney failure.

Yeah, this sounds like a urinary tract infection. (UTI)
The best thing to do is drink lots of water and cranberry juice to help flush out the infection in your bladder.
If after a week this hasn't gone away, I would say you might want to get with your gyno, they will help you get on some meds to get rid of that awful infection.
