I was just wondering because Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. even OPRAH are obvious, but what has Will Smith done? I mean I like Will Smith, but why is he important to our world?

I like him too but I don't see him as important to society. Important to his industry? Yes.

He has made it far as an actor, starting off on Fresh Prince and now he has done some major pictures such as Ali and The Pursuit of Happiness. I think that many find him important as you say it is also he is one of those rare celebrities that has great family values. Also, in award programs such as the Academy many African American actors have not been recognized as much as white actors and he as been recongnized by the Academy twice. That is pretty awesome. Just think a few years ago Hally Berry was the first African American women to receive an Academy as Best Actress. Many steps for African Americans are still being made and Will Smith is one of them just taking his steps in history.

He's not in the same league as Martin Luther King, but as a celebrity I just give him props for not being sleezy; for being a good dad; for celebrating his family; for keeping it clean. He's a great example, but nobody said he was a saint.

Oprah, come on... she's more worried about people in some other country then in her home land. I can't stand her and people like her. Take care of our people before you help someone other country.

He's very influential and known person in show business. He got more money and name to proud of. That's why people trea him important, besides Will Smith never messed his name as far I knew and maybe evryone should emulate him.

Important? I don't think he is important but he is interesting as he has a strong work ethic and has been in quite a few hit movies lately ...the most recent Pursuit of Happyness.
He has an interesting history though not necessarily important. If he is doing something important, I don't know about it...maybe he is doing a charity benefit or something.

he has always been portrait as the good nice guy. He seems to be a good role model father and husband and he has a career and he is a nice looking guy. I think he is what most women what in a man.

well he isnt that important, but he is so different from the other "celebreties" coz he tries to show important things, such as values, education n so on. since i saw him in the kids choice last year he impressed me!
