3.The population center of this region is in European Russia. The rest of the region is thinly settled, except for parts of Caucasia and large industrial cities widely spaced in the Ural Mountains, on the plains of western Siberia, and to a lesser extent in Central Asia. What are the main reasons for these settlement and industrial patterns? How does the pattern express central planning ideologies?

The settlements are close to resources. Agriculture - Krasnodar, Stavropol (close to Caucasus), mineral resources - Urals and Kemerovo, timber - Siberia.
