America is alot more corrupt than other countries, good countries. Some of the news channels are only telling lies to americans about the Iraq war, it's propaganda, the whole "freedom thing" when will americans see this. 60% of americans are against the war, i wonder how many it would be if they all knew what's really going on.

hmmmmm

The United States is corrupt in other ways. In many countries bribes are a part of life with civil servants. In the United States it is okay for civil servants to break the law and deny people their rights, due process, but not when you take money for it.

For example, it is okay to manufacture evidence to put a "bad guy" in prison, but, not if you get paid for it.

It is okay to not provide a good defense for a person accused of a crime unless you are paid well. If you are paid well and do not like the person, or think they committed a heinous crime it is okay to be a poor lawyer, as long as you don't get caught.

It is okay to lie in court where it is illegal, but, not to make a mistaken statement based on bad intelligence.

Most of the world has no clue why people in the United States have this kind of strange corrupt but not by bribery ideology. In fact, I have no clue either.

This is not a political line thing, or a religious line thing, this corruption extends past any stereotypical lines, it is just kind of weird.

John we know we don't have the prefect solution, but does the fighting between the Sunnis & the Shiita make their country more profitable or safer for either of them. Arguing about something that happened centuries ago makes as much sense as when then Christens would kill each other over which foot was on top when Jesus was on the cross.

In truth if the coalition is in the middle east for oil it will most likely run out within 50 years. More people are going to the well since we reached the 1/2 way point of this planets fossil feul supply. Any 1st world country that captures all the energy will have to share it just to sell their products. Most of the 1st world's products require to be used.

You said it yourself - most Americans are totally unaware of what the truth is because we have been consistently lied to and manipulated for so many years that most of us are deep in the dark.

I operate on the premise that every government in every country is corrupt, and I do what I can to get an overall view of things so I can make up my own mind about what is happening, but that requires time and effort. Most people are way too distracted by other things to do this, so.....?

I have travelled overseas extensively, and I can tell you without question that America is one of the VERY few countries who actually act out of principle, compassion, and good faith.

Why don't you add details to your question and let us know which countries you find more pristine and non-corrupt? Maybe you'd like to cite France, Russia, or Germany, three countries that were being bribed by Saddam Hussein in the Oil For Food scandal. These countries refused to enforce the stern resolutions THEY voted for because they were getting millions from Saddam. Hence, we had to fight the good fight practically alone.

You want to cite some country in Central or South America? Good luck! Pretty much, they all stink of corruption, but none worse than Mexico.

We can easily rule out any country in Africa. You wanna try for some country in the Middle East? That would be hilarious. How about some Asian country? Maybe you could make a case for Turkey, or Greece..... but just don't look too closely under the surface.

So c'mon...... this is a challenge. You contend the U.S.A. is so much more corrupt than other countries? Well, we're all waiting. Name some!

Or, you can carefully consider what I have said and be a little less strident in your denunciations of the U.S.A.

Its always hardest to look in the mirror honestly.

Also, its hard for the common everyday person to be truely informed by what's on mainstream TV. They are a big business whose purpose is to turn a profit, not provide the public with information.
They aren't going to put view on TV that the mass public doesn't want to watch, or that advertisers will run from.
Same thing with the government, they don't speak to inform, they speak with a concise purpose - to produce/encourage voter support for whatever happens to be the topic.
So the denial comes from a combination of those things ... nobody ever believes their side is the "bad side" ... and only people who have a true desire for the "truth" will find it.
If that true desire isn't there, your opinion gets formed by the propoganda on television, mainstream media, etc.

The present American leadership has brought corruption to an all time high, but, even so, America is not necessarily more corrupt than many other countries.

Why don't all Americans want to admit that their country is corrupt? 1) It's their country. 2) They are uneducated. 3) They know their country is nowhere as corrupt and murderous as the iraqui government was.

If you have ever had a conversation with people from other coutries you will find that those countries are vastly
more corrupt that the US..THAT IS ONE REASON THEY LEAVE. So, Hussein and Radical Islamists are better
than the "freedom thing"? If you are American - the
truth is - radical Islamists want to kill you....American
Troops protect Americans and our freedoms.
The view that America and our Government are bad and the war is bad makes me question what "truth" this questioner embraces. A truth that would protect me
or a truth that would kill me.

When the war first started, even the so called liberals were for it. Now all of the politicians are scrambling to cover their asses and are against the war. The same goes for the american public. They have a common consciousness like the " borge" from star trek. CNN or FOX news tells them what to think through opinion editorials and sensationalized stories. They have a kind of cheerleader mentality of "we are the best" no matter what they do. They have given up their human traits such as the ability to reason or the ability to have moral judgments. Plato was right when he said that not everyone deserves democracy.

I could type serveral pages telling you why you are wrong, but instead I'm going to call you are an idiot. America is the best country in the world for a variety of reasons. If you can't see that leave. Maybe time spent in one of the spineless European countries, conflict ridden middle eastern countries, or in the communist eastern and south eastern asian countries will change your perspective. Until then you are lower than dirt.
