when you buy gold jewellery in carat.what is the greater in value and the greater in gold,eg 10k 12k 14 k solid gold or 9k 18k and 24k does not say solid gold i was under the impression that the 9k 18k and 24 k had more metal additives than just solid gold.please advise me on this matter

24k gold is 100% gold. Anything less has another metal alloyed with it. So 18k gold may have silver alloyed with "pure" gold.

I didn't really understand your question but...24 k is pure gold, and it is the most expensive. When you go further down (14k, 10k) the gold is less expensive because more silver is added to it, thus it's not pure. You were right that 9k 18k have more additives becuase solid gold, 24k, has none, it is pure.

the higher the carat the more pure gold. but...the softer it is ...thus other metals are added to improve the strength .
