I'm 18 weeks pregnant and I've had this headache so long I cant remember when it started. It's a BAD headache I'm sensitive to any noise I see spots I get light headed to the point I fall or cant get up at all My muscles cramp to the extend that I cry. I know that these symptons are common but when do you know when they are worse than they should be. I am under a lot of stress at the moment. And not exactly the happiest person in the world and I'm trying everything I can to take care of my baby but I worry about it. Is this much pain normal? Anybody else been through this? What do I do? My stress is caused by many things ( my fiancee left me and left my daughter and I with nothing) but I don't want my kids to suffer along with me. I cant stop worrying at this point I'm afraid but is this constant headache dizziness, ect normal ? cee_jae22@yahoo.com

Well first off I would like to congratulate you on being a wonderful mother! I have a tendency to get migraines and when I was pregnant I had HORRIBLE headaches! I also had those horrible leg cramps called charlie horses that killed me! Headaches are very common during the second trimester of pregnancy. The spots are a common side effect of headaches. I also had pregnancy induced high blood pressure and diabetes. High blood pressure can also cause headaches and the spots you are seeing. You may want to consult your obgyn to check you for pre-eclampsia (AKA pregnancy induced high blood pressure). Good luck

Hang in there hun! Your headache could just be down to stress, but it could be a number of other things. Seeing spots and being sensitive to noise are common attributes to migraines, but if your experiencing muscle cramps and dizziness, it's also possible you could be suffering from iron deficiency ie Aneamia.

I know it's easier said than done, but try not to stress about things so much, children pick up on these things. As can an unborn baby.

Please book an appointment to see your doctor. Tell them everything, they're there to help.

Good luck x

It sounds a like a migrane. I had them constantly when I was pregnant with my first son. Please don't worry being pregnant and having migranes is very normal. Even if you've not had them before. And, that doesn't mean they'll be anything wrong with your baby. My son was full term and is your usual rowdy little boy!

More than likely stress is causing yours. But, if it's consistant lasting for days or weeks check out your diet. I found that prepackaged foods like Lean Cuisines, frozen chicken nuggets, frozen meats, and hot dogs (and bologna) contain nitrates. I cannot eat any of those while pregnant I get an instant migrane!! Cheese is also a trigger but usually when combined with chocolate or grease. You'll have to check our diet to see what it is for you.

As soon as a I stopped eating frozen foods and hotdogs I was just fine. No more migranes!

It could be a miagrane, but you can't take chances. You're symptoms are so severe that I would call someone to take you to an emergency room -- do not drive yourself. This may be something more serious than a simple bad headache. It could mean you have dangerously high blood pressure, or a number of other things. Additionally, because you are pregnant, you need to see a doc to get good meds that won't put your baby at risk. Go to the ER now!

Stress can do terrible things for a pregnancy. You need to try to calm down a bit. There are places that can help you, such as state assistance and such. There is no shame in getting financial help in your situation. Get a good friend to talk to to get this stuff off your chest because whether you're pregnant or not, everyone needs to relieve their stress.
Your symptoms are normal for your pregnancy. However, it sounds like they're going to the extreme. You should see your Doctor and make sure you are alright. Although pregnancy can be uncomfortable, it shouldn't be unbearable. I'm sorry for your situation. I hope it gets better.

well, i would not say normal but i have known women who have had pregnancy induced migranes and unfortunately there was not much they could do about it. as far as muscle cramps you may need more potassium which may even help your headaches. take your vitamins, it sounds as though you have let yourself get worn down. despite your circumstances you need rest and nutrition and some of your symptoms may ease up or even go away completely. you also need to talk to your doc about your symptoms as you never know if something more serious is going on. sorry to hear about your relationship but it may be best in the long run as he does not sound like a good guy if he has left you and his children.

First of all, I do not want to stress you out with your answer. PLEASE don't see us, please see a doctor.

When I was 34 weeks pregnant just a few months ago, I developed severe preeclampsia. I was dizzy, I had a severe headache, and I saw black spots. I was under a great deal of stress throughout the pregnancy. I had to be careflighted to another hospital and had a C-section 6 weeks early.

ANYTIME during your pregnancy you don't "feel" right about something, PLEASE see a doctor.

I actually called the local ER when this happened (my doctor was out) and they told me not to come in - I would be fine. I went in ANYWAY and I'm glad I did because I might have died had I listened to their advice.

I have heard that headaches are normal but yours sounds like a migraine. If your falling and are worried about your baby's health then you might want to see you DR.
Try to relax, have neighbor take the kids and take a nap. Most Drs stay its okay to take tylenol when pregnant, but check first.
Good luck

It sounds like you are having a migraine or you have low blood pressure, which are very common things to be experiencing during pregnancy. I had the same symptoms and was diagnosed with low blood pressure. Call the doctor immediately!
