The two biggest arguments against ethanol as a fuel are these:

It takes just about as much energy to make a gallon of ethanol as the gallon of ethanol yields.

It would take the entire corn production of the United States to replace not much more than 5-10% of the gasoline currently used here.

Hint: if you do a google search with the search terms "problems with ethanol" you MIGHT find some references....of course most will be from the fossil fuel lobby.
