I need REAL answers, for an English paper.
I've had my share or completely ridiculous responses this week, please take this seriously.

One benefit is protecting children from graphic pornography or vulgar language that is offensive to hear or read.
I believe in freedom of speech and freedom of the press. But do we really need all the smut that is out there?
If a bar doesn't serve drinks to someone under 21, is that violating their rights? If a 16 year old boy can't get into a strip club, is that violating his rights? There are rights, but there have to be responsibilities. They go hand in hand. The same should be true with the Internet.

There are no benefits. That's akin to censoring a bookstore - any form of censorship is a downward spiral.
It isn't the internet that needs to be censored - it's the users. Computers have off buttons for a reason - just like televisions and cell phones.
* and censorship will not "get rid of child porn". Or pedophiles. They were always there - they always will be. You can protect your children by turning off the computer. Supervising usage. Parents are responsible for protecting their children. They cannot stand by and ask that everyone else do what they don't have time nor inclination to do themselves. Personal responsibility people! If you want censorship - begin at the grass roots level and start with your own machines. No one is forced to log on, are they?

There are none. The Internet is around for information exchange. Censoring it defeats that very purpose

Censoring Internet will make it fall and die....We might not be able to answer this question if that happens...there is no benefit at all...
