Evolution, to a trained scientist, is real--gravity is also "only a thoery" but no one doubts its existence!
1. Assuming you mean in a public school--it is forbidden by the US Constitution (separation of church and state); evolution is based on data, intelligent design is based on wishful thinking
2. There is ZERO evidence that contradicts evolution, nothing credible whatsoever; in fact, as science progresses the more we find out how much the greats understood (Darwin and Einstein are but 2 examples); again, people who discount evolution have nothing to stand on but wishful thinking
3. There is ZERO evidence for intelligent design, except faith-based arguments (are you ready for another Big surprise--wishful thinking)
4. Evolution, and science in general, requires an open mind and thus, your ego and biases (especially faith-based ones) need to be left at the door; those who have not kept an open mind, make their arguments like the following: "well, the bible says that...such and such...so therefore...." Obviously, there is no data involved.
Take for example "the great flood". A scientist would look for evidence of this. No one says there was no high water, but to think that all the animals were saved because 2 of each were put on a boat is silliness. A genetist would fall off his chair in laughter--there would certainly have to be more genetic diversity than offerred by 2 organisms for that species to survive!! Not to mention the impractical likelihood of rounding up all the animals, or that the lions would eat the zebras!!
Science requires: EVIDENCE, it is SUBJECT TO PEER REVIEW, and there must be REPRODUCIBLE RESULTS...anyone who fully understands these standards can see that religion is faith and science is science...creation science was an invented term to try to get "science" into public schools...of course it is religion that has been repackaged...so keep the religion out of science and science out of religion and the world will be just fine...

1. Creationism could be taught as part of a religion class, but NOT as part of a science class.

2. There IS NO evidence that contradicts evolution.

3. There is no evidence that supports intelligent design.

4. I am a biologist. My perspective on faith and my view of evolution are separate and unrelated. I do not consider the Bible to be a literal science text.
