What made me ask this was I saw the oscars and a particular lesbian woman was dressed in a suit and thanked her wife.
And in other couples forgive my saying but the expression is "butch" when the woman has male mannerisms .

I don't know about always... but I'm a lesbian, and the girl I'm seeing now is definitely the dominant one in the relationship, and I'm more submissive. She's loud and assertive, and I'm more feminine and easy going.
Her word is final--what she says usually goes, and I actually like it that way. The few times we've been out to eat she likes to order for me, and opens the door for me... that kinda stuff makes me MELT!

In the bedroom she's definitely in charge too. And believe me, I have NO complaints about THAT! >:)

In one way or another , yes there always is. It doesn't necessarily mean one is submissive while the other dominate. It has more to do with what roles you're comfortable taking on in a relationship with that particular individual. I'm more aggressive and tend to be the "bread winner", while my partner is very happy tending house and working part-time. We're very happy and not unlike anyone in a relationship. It's what we're happy doing and how we use that to define our roles. Doesn't mean I don't like to bottom from time to time. ;) lmfao

The word you are looking for is "dominant" (one who dominates) and the answer is "no." I have no desire to dominate, nor any desire to be submissive, nor as a lesbian, come across as male in any way. Those who wish to dominate must not be classified as either male or female... both exist.

Maybe in some regards I suppose. I would let my partner play the traditional "male role" I think, just because it is in my nature to follow.

Probably in some. Not mine, There are things I dominate in, and things my partner does, and other things we trade off on. Or are you asking about sex itself?

depends on the relationship....If your talking about gay male relationships....in some cases sexually one can be dominate over the other...but outside of sex all are usually the same...

No. Gender affiliation, sexual role play and personality types are totally disconnected from each other.

Romantic relationships, gay or otherwise, should not be about dominance. Period.

that's stereotypical, although many people do have that kind of relationship, not all do. personally i like women who are like me, if i choose to date a woman i want her to be a woman, not a woman trying to be a man. i'd date a man if i wanted that.

Some couples yes, others no. I guess it would depend on the couple.
