To the best of our limited knowledge, Olympus Mons. Before Mt. Everest was discovered (which obviously does not mean Mt. Everest didn't exist) Olympus Mons, on Mars, was the tallest mountain, at least in our solar system, standing at a lofty 27 kilometres / 17 miles / 88,585 ft. Because the question does not ask which was the tallest mountain on Earth, Olympus Mons is the most accurate answer you can get.
