Try the USB port you may have to buy a cord , I did. Its really not that hard to hook up Just take your time it will let you know if its in the wrong port

If its a USB Cord Device whatever port you want, it doesn't matter. If you have another connector like a Printer Only Serial Pin Cable match up the colors on the cord and the one on the back of your printer.

Sound like your pc isn't recognizing the printer, uninstall the application and reinstall following all guidelines step by technique of step, in reality plug in USB cable to printer even as brought on. Set the printer as default from administration panel.
