Perhaps if you are so concerned you should take a first aid course. they are offered at most schools and can really increase your confidence about such things. As for making her more comfortable, try and treat her normally. Talk with her, gossip, play games, watch videos, whatever you guys like to do. Don't treat her like an invalid. At the same time, make sure she's not overexerting herself. It's SO hard to deal with things like this... but you will get through it, just be as supposrtive as you can. and don't be afraid to ask her doc about anything you can do to help your sis. good luck, i'll pray for her.

CPR you really need to know - no ifs about it. If you don't know you need to start taking classes immediately. You need to have a land line phone, not just a cell. In case of emergency you can't be found with a cell.

You can make a plan and discuss it with her, and of course, her doctor. Then you can rehearse this plan, just like a fire drill. Keep it simple. Know the warning signs. Keep information–such as what medications she's taking–in one place. If she has any symptoms of a heart attack for a few minutes (no more than 5), call the EMS by dialing 9-1-1 right away.

The first thing you should do is take a course in CPR so that you are prepared in case you need to use. This is something everyone should know. To make her comfy just keep low sodium foods in your house and ask if there are things she would like in the fridge and what she perfers to drink. Since she is coming home with you they will give the two of you discharge instructions regarding her care and meds and it will be printed out for you to take home. This will help a lot. Be sure she has a phone in reach to use when you are at work or school etc. You should do fine.

Please talk to the doctor... Explain the situation to them. They can tell you what to do in case something arises. Doctor's have emergency numbers to call if something comes up. The 911 operator can also assist you with minor things while waiting for the ambulance to arrive.

Overall, talk to the doctor... that is what they are there for. Explain the situation, and get as much information as you can. Write down the questions you have before you see the doctor so that you are sure they answer what ever you need them too.

Ask her doctor what you can do to make her more comfortable. If any one can tell you it will be him. Take a cpr course. The people at 911 will talk you through what has to be done once the ambulance is dispatched.

Your sister will tell you what makes her comfortable, never assume as we have different needs of comfort. In regards to your sister having heart failure, the best thing you can do is learn CPR. Good luck

talk to her cardiologist and nurses, they'll be able to instruct u on all this and give u number to call for help- u might ask if u should take a cpr class, and let her know to tell u what helps her be comfortable

Well, it might be helpful to learn how to do cpr but if you don't know how to do it, don't bother. If you screw it up, it could make it worse. Just offer her whatever she needs and she'll tel you what she thinks she needs to make herself more comfy. good luck
