My vote goes to Lucky Luciano, the founder of the Commission, dividing up the pie in NY between the 5 families. The other families in the states rode a back seat to the NY mob. The Sicilians were probably more powerful, but i don't know anything about them????

All Italian mafiosi pale in comparison to the Russian mob. It took Italians many decades to start "earning" millions of dollars in the US. To Russians, it took only a few years to start earning billions of dollars in the US. The most sophisticated "white collar" crimes have been committed by Russians. Russian mafiosi are smarter and more cruel.
