its not rusted, just looks...well..sun damaged. Not wanting to paint, ($$$) not ready to give up car.

why not give the car paint a solvent cleaning with grease and wax remover then do a light water sanding to the paint and buff it to a nice finish and wax it to a high gloss shine it`s alot of work but cost very little and should do the trick for now @least!

I'm not sure how bad it is but you may not be able to get it back to the way it used to be. There may be some kind of paint restorers at Autozone or a parts store that can work. But Buffing may actually hurt it more.

Sun damage on paint is usually permanent. Buffing takes out light surface imperfections.
