I think that lyrically, he's great... to a poin. I did get really irritated by his idiotic comments about raping 12 year olds (yes, he did say that), and various other misogynistic crap he spouts, but I do think he's talented.
Do you think he was just trying to wind up as many people as possible with his daft comments? Or is he just a git?

Nope. Sorry. Let's be realistic. Most artists seek publicity, that's how they survive as artists!! He courted the media as much as he could at first for that exact reason! I do agree COMPLETELY, though, that the press went nuts and started making a huge fuss about a lot of nonsense.
I do think he is gifted, he's a master of wordplay.

Oh, just in case I didn't make it clear: I think he is a great wind-up merchant and is damn good at it! I don't think he foresaw exactly how ridiculous the press would get.

Oh, please. Lots of us had a seriously hideous childhood - it's a lame excuse for absolutely nothing.
I know half of what he says shouldn't be taken seriously, and I'm all for a good laugh, but I draw the line at the 12 year old girl thing.
Good music nonetheless!

dont take everything he says seriously man! he doesnt mean all that shitt! yes, i guess sometimes he can be disrespectful towards woman, but i mean thats honesty. you dont see hilary duff or aaron carter talking about bush or war or the way hollywood really is, do you? he doesnt sugarcoat stuff, so i guess ppl can take it seriously. but most of it is humor anyway, and i love him. so yes, he is a talented wind up artist extraordinnaire!

eminem is the a controversial genius and thats how he as sold records. comments about 12 year old are totally out of line but he has a young kid so im sure he only did it to sell records, but still no excuse for it. what i do like about his lyrics is his blunt honesty and the way he gets his anger on a page. on one of his first albums there was a song called 'if i had a million dollars' and it was written before he became famous and i think his personal best..we have all felt like that.but i do belive that he has incredible talent and i will not stop listening to him

Those who say he's not a woman-basher are simply foolish and blind, get real people! There is no excuse for 'joking' about raping anyone, it's vile. HOWEVER I don't think he's the ogre that his image promotes at all. I think he is definitely a wind-up artist!

I understand what you're saying, the man has said some moronic things, but I think it is largely to annoy everyone and raise his profile!
I remeber him saying in an interview that he hated it how girls, in general, just keep taking so much crap from guys and that he didn't understand why girls did this and still came back for more.

Eminem has talent. He is so good at what he does! I can't stand the people who say he's a women basher, I'll bet the stuff he's said that "bash" women isn't half as bad as the childhood and family he was born into & does anyone ever stop to think of how much he loves his little gir? He wrote a song about her and I think he's a great dad *except when he remarried Kim.*
