why is it running so slow, how can I make it run faster? It connects thru available wireless networks in the area. I also did not realize that it didn't have microsoft word on it, thpought that was mandatory, how much will that software cost me, just need it for school work

wireless runs a max of 54 mbs and you can go to openoffice.org and download the free office that is compatable with microsoft office

You can get open office.org from http://www.winaddons.com/top300-freeware-software it has most features of office and is free. As for speeding up your laptop, please make sure you have up to date anti virus and spyware programmes, you can get AVG and Spybot S+D for free http://www.cnet.com. Zone alarm firewall is also available from that site.
Speeding up after you are sure that you have no spyware;
Start>control panel> my computer> view system information> advanced> performance> settings> advanced> virtual memory> change> change the value to one higher than currently set, for example 333 changes to 600, this will increase your virtual memory and speed things up considerably.
