reverse transcriptases have much more error rates than DNA-dependant DNA polymerase.
RT: 1 error per 1.5~30 kb
polymerase w/o 3'->5' exo: 8 errors per 1000 kb
polymerase w/ 3'->5' exo: 0.4~5.8 errors per 1000 kb

Well DNA polymerase has a proofreading function, and so tends to correct most of the errors made by mis-inserting a base. After adding a nucleotide, it checks it. If it put in thewrong one, it's 3'-->5' exonuclease activity removes the last base added and tries again.

Reverse transcriptase doesn't have a proofreading ability, and so will have a much higher error rate.
