I heard on ET and Access Hollywood and E! That after this year, there is only going to be one more season and that's it. The writers have a timeline of events and know exactly where they are going with this, and what's going to happen when, but - they said the show is due to end the end of next season - regardless if it's the #1 show or has no more viewers. Even if it's #1 show - they are still ending it because they've had the whole story and timeline of events planned from the start.

This is my guess how it will end: This whole time they've been on an island as a "government experiement" in human behavior. Sort of like a "real life 'Survivor'." The survivors figure out (or beat it out of one of the "others") that it was "no accident" that the original 48 survivors from various walks of life were all selected to be part of this experiment. Now that the Survivors "know" this was no accident and it's been nothing more than a scientific experiment - the experiment is now compromised and theres no point in continuing the experiment so the island will be destroyed. However, they will probably recruit the strongest and the best out of the group of survivors first like Jack, Kate, Sawyer and the bald guy to be some kind of government specialist. I.e. Kate will be a "hitman" Sawyer will steal government secrets from rogue nations, Jack will end up either doing secret medical experiements or chose to be "eliminated" because of his ethics and the bald guy will be some kind of "soldier of fortune".

That's just my guess. I think "the others" work for a secret goverment agency.

Interesting question. I think it may end with everyone leaving the island and going back to their normal lives. If they would tell people where they were for all those months though, no no would believe them. And everyone on the island would be connected to each other forever. I believe everyone was brought to the island fo a reason. Wouldn't it be strange if it all ended up being someones dream?
