no normal calpol is just paracetamol if the baby is tired and in pain then obv when the pain is eased he or she will sleep better. The ones that make them sleepy are such things as tixilix nightime and phenagon (excuse the spelling on that). I am a mum of 5, and used calpol for 18 years!! on and off obv, lol, also do work in the health sector. Calpol is just paracetamol nothing more (other than colour and flavour etc)

Paracetamol (Calpol) does not make babies sleepy but as the answerer above said it helps them feel better if they are feverish which in turn helps them sleep.
Sometimes the fact that the baby has had immunisations can make them a bit sleepy - it's their response to feeling a bit off colour .
I run a baby immunisation clinic for the Health Visitors at our surgery, so I know what Im talking about.

Calol doesn't make babies sleepy in fact it can have the complete opposite effect as it has colourings in it. The active ingredient in calpol is paracetamol which offers pain relief and will reduce your baby's temperature if she has a fever. Another paracetamol based medicine is medised this also contains an antihistamine and will make your child drowsy. The vaccinations themselves are quite likely to make your baby feel sleepy. x x

She's asleep because she's finally feeling better and she's exhausted from all the screaming she's been doing for the past two days! Calpol only contains paracetamol and paracetamol is not sedating, even for babies.

It can do, but after vaccinations, that's not necessarily a bad thing.
In time, Calpol will become your best friend!

No this is not true at all!! I was also told this by my healthvisitor just before my sons injections so i tried it and yes he was still up all night. The fact is babies need there injections and the parents are just going to have to deal with being up a little longer than usual for a couple of nights. It only last a couple of days at the very most i promise!!!
