A toss up between the Muppet Show and Pee-Wee's Playhouse. Both looking like they were for kids but really not. Adult's enjoyed them far more. It was a shame Paul Reubens put his career in the dumpster.

In the "Golden Age" of TV and the 60's and 70s there were some excellent TV shows:
Rawhide, Gunsmoke, Have Gun Will Travel, Naked City, Ben Casey, Combat, I Love Lucy, Wagon Train, M-Squad, You Are There, The Andy Griffith Show, M.A.S.H., The Dick Van Dyke Show, Newhart.

Later stuff that impressed me were things like Seinfeld, Hill Street Blues, Hooperman, The West Wing, The Sopranos, ER, Tour of Duty, Square Pegs.

Television has not always been a "great wasteland" is some critic said. Some arid areas to be sure, but plenty of quality out there.

The Bugs Bunny/Roadrunner Comedy Hour.

That or the old Ed Sullivan Show. He had Elvis, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Who, and a bunch of the best bands around on.
