Honestly, you'll have a good experience anywhere, as long as you have an open mind and a positive attitude. When you go abroad, everything is different but YOU. Having said that, think about what's important to you: language, culture, climate? Since you seem really open, consider applying to the Rotary Youth Exchange program (link below). It's one of the best, and most inexpensive program. The only 'con' is that a lot of the time you don't get into your first choice country (you'll probably end up ranking the countries 1-5 or whatever). However, since you seem really open (a great characteristic for exchangers!), this seems perfect for you. If you tell them five countries you like, Rotary will place you where they think you and your personality will fit the best. Check out the forum in the second link, too. Good luck!

Finland has always ranked number one among American students looking for friendly fun receptive school mates while France & Germany & Switzerland make foreign students 'work' for their friendship. That said, the Swiss have always been welcoming sorts and the Germans have a reputation for hospitality while the French well they are French. I would opt for Finland.
Peace....

hi, currently i live in French.
Its an interesting country and would be worth the chance to explore, and learn. There are american and english communities here also to help you meet people, or get on with living here. I live in Toulouse, which is just 2 hours to Andorra and 3 hours to Spain. Fantastic location and some great people!

your too young to truly understand the experience. the European lifestyle is more relaxed and cant be felt during a simple semester vacation. i recommend doing it when your in college.
remember your going into a place with other seniors, that only want to graduate not meet new students. it may be very lonely.
Switzerland is much safer, and friendlier to international students. also its centrally located in europe as you may want to do some traveling in europe.

finland has the best school system, but they don't have much competition among students. but if u r like me, tired of retarded american students (not all of them, but a lot r retarded), i'd recommend finland, students there r serious about school, they go to school because they WANT to, to go to school to study, not to have fun with friends. unlike in america,a lot of them go to school because they HAVE to
German is the closest to english
i've been 2 years in finland, the school was great, but a bit small so they may not offer so many courses, but they don't have so many of useless elective courses like here, so u may only have to take the necessary ones like english, math, science etc.their system in school is like the system in college.
seen a school in belgium (near france and germany) and know a little bit how it is in general, it has nothing special, a bit strict
i have a friend who goes to hi school in autralia, i dont no much about the system tho. but they seem to have a lot of subjects u can choose to study in school

A lot of european students know english anyway as a second language. You should be fine. I would choose germany, because they are hardcore.

I think you should go with France, it would be fun. I went there once and it was just amazing. French is also quite easy to learn. Please take my advice and go to France.
