they could be eucalyptus or olive trees, which have very little bark in the first place and it comes off easily. The trees are perfectly healthy, it's just an odd trait of the species.

I believe birch trees also lose their bark, looks like its peeling off & has a white color to it. Its normal for that species.

If the trees are large with large leaves, might be sycamore trees.

nothing is wrong they are either a birch or a popular they get like this as they grow

Probably silver birch, they 'moult' every year hence the name.
