$50 USD would be 26,987.50 CLP (Chilean Pesos) They do often use the $ sign so be careful.

50.00 CLP = 0.0926355 USD

If you are in Chile and something costs fifty pesoes you would abbreviate it $50.00, knowing of course that you are in Chile and that "$" mean Chilean Pesoes.
